Click here to view the Bergen Evening Record article dated Wednesday March 18, 1942, which lists William Charles Weimuth, Jr. of 138 Union Street Hackensack with draft number 537 being tagged for Army service.

This name does not appear on the Original Wall Unit and I do not know if he was called to active service at this present time. This was the first report I have seen in the newspapers telling of the draft.

The article states that the first Bergen County number drawn was 441, only the fourth number picked nationwide, and it was held by Salvatore Lepera of 202 Russell Place Hackensack, age 40 with four children, who had served during World War I with Company G from Hackensack. I am doubtful he was called to active duty.
